Kitty Queen Cat Rescue exists to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome homeless, unwanted, and special needs cats while promoting compassionate care and responsible pet ownership. We are dedicated to creating a stress-reduced, enriching environment through our cat lounge model, strengthening community engagement, and ensuring every cat is treated with dignity, respect, and love.
Why We Created the Cat Lounge
Here at Kitty Queen, we think rescue should feel different — not clinical, not confined, but compassionate, dignified, and full of possibility. When we envisioned a better way to help cats find homes, we knew the traditional shelter model wasn’t enough. Cats are sensitive, intuitive animals who thrive in calm, enriching environments, and we wanted to give them a space that reflected that truth.
That vision became Pittsburgh’s very first cat lounge.
Instead of living in cages while they wait to be adopted, our cats roam freely in a thoughtfully designed, home-like setting. They climb, play, nap in sunny windows, and interact naturally with visitors. This stress-reduced environment allows their true personalities to shine — helping potential adopters connect with them in an authentic and meaningful way.
The lounge is not simply a place to visit cats; it is an intentional adoption experience. By removing barriers and creating comfort, we increase socialization, improve wellbeing, and create stronger matches between cats and families.
